Calimala Florence

Calimala is a boutique hotel located in Via Calimala in Florence, an ancient street in the historic center of the city. It's a property that harmoniously combines the historic charm of the building it's situated in with modern elements in its interior design.

The top three floors of the building are occupied by Angel Roofbar & Dining, the hotel's bar and restaurant, boasting a spacious terrace with panoramic views of Florence.

When they approached us to start working on a new website, Hotel Calimala was already a client of Qnt-Simple Booking. On the agency side, we had previously designed the old website and managed its content and SEO optimization for about four years.

The need to go online with a new site arose from a rebranding effort. The property owners had acquired a new building to add to the hotel, where new, larger suites would be constructed, along with a new bar and a larger gym. The new Calimala brand would therefore consist of two buildings: The East (the current hotel) and The West (the new building on the nearby Via de’ Lamberti).

For the development of the new website, we drew inspiration from references in the art and fashion industries. The design features an irregular layout and pop-style colors to emphasize this blend of classic and modern elements that characterizes the hotel.

Regarding the copywriting, we employed a lively and informal communication style, incorporating foreign words. In this case, we started writing the English version of the text and then translated it in the other languages, while still maintaining wordplay and Anglicisms where appropriate.
